GRAPES: carmenere 70% + cabernet sauvignon 30%

VISUAL ANALYSIS: limpid, ruby, quite flowing

OLFACTORY ANALYSIS : toasted(sweet chocolate), fruity(blueberry, red dry plum, wood strawberries), spicy(cinnamon, black pepper, clove), flowery(rose, violet), distinct scents(mint’s flavour), herbaceous(lawn); there is a big variety of scents and the wood is well amalgamated

GUSTATIVE ANALYSIS : a great mineral sensation and a pronounced tannin and softly invasive; the finale is with fruit and spicies

WINE-FOOD COMBINATION: carne mechada (typical Chilean red meat dish)

MY PERSONAL OPINION: a wine that at the gustative analysis is displaced towards the hard substances and this is not typical for a red wine; nevertheless at the olfactory analysis is very pleasant and as regards the wine-food combination is ideal for the red meat; if the olfactory sensations received their confirmation at the gustative analysis, this wine would be a champion; in spite of what I have just mentioned, this wine results to be a good wine in all its parameters

LA CAPITANA – MERLOT RESERVA – VIÑA LA ROSA – PRODUCIDO Y EMBOTELLADO POR VIÑA LA ROSA – FUNDO LA ROSA – CARRETERA DE LA FRUTA KM 37 – PEUMO – CHILE        2006  14, 5%

VISUAL ANALYSIS: limpid, ruby with purple reflexes, quite thick

OLFACTORY ANALYSIS : intense, complex, fine

DESCRIPTION : fruity(wild fruit), herbaceous(grass), sundry smells(mentholated), flowery(rose, lily); at the nose, it is still confused and not so clear in the range of scents

GUSTATIVE ANALYSIS :  at the mouth, the mineral note plays an important role and the tannin completes the team play

WINE-FOOD COMBINATION: chorrillana (typical Chilean dish)

MY PERSONAL OPINION:  a corpulent and structured wine which is closed in itself and does not make acquaintance; within 2 years, when it believes much more in its possibilities, it could reveal more confident if it will achieve to lower the tannic level
